[ Frequently Asked Questions ]
How far ahead should we book?
Shoots are booked from February 2027. For an edit on its own, two to three weeks' notice is usually enough.
Do you work through a production company?
Either way. I can bring my own producer and crew, or direct and edit inside your production company's team.
How is a film priced?
Directing is a day rate and editing is priced per film from the brief. You get one written estimate before any dates are held.
Who comes on the shoot?
Usually six people or fewer: cinematographer, gaffer, sound, producer and me. Bigger crews when the film needs them.
Do you travel?
Yes. I'm based in Rotterdam and have filmed in nine countries; travel is billed at cost.
How many rounds of changes are included?
Two rounds after the first cut, and the first cut comes nine days after the shoot.
Can you edit footage you didn't shoot?
Yes, about half of my edits are other directors' films. Send the rushes and the brief and I'll say how long it takes.
What do we get at the end?
Every format and cut-down the brief asks for, subtitles in the languages you need and the graded master. The rushes stay yours.
