Scrivane Ardo
One lamp, a stack of blank cards and the night a story finds its order.
A short about the first night of writing a film, lit by a single desk lamp so the room stays as dark as the screenwriter's head before the first card goes up.
The first night of writing a film looks like nothing much: one man, a desk and a stack of index cards with nothing on them yet.
The lamp moves, the room doesn’t
Pim wanted the room to brighten as the story did, so the lamp changed over the night while everything around it stayed black.
Hour | Lamp | Cards on the wall |
|---|---|---|
22:00 | Low and warm | None |
01:00 | Pulled closer | A handful |
04:00 | Full | A whole wall |
Dark on purpose
Everything outside the lamp sits at black in camera, not in the grade. That meant no second chances, and it made the cards glow.
