A bedroom turned into a film set, lit through the blinds.
A no-budget short made in one room with one lamp and the light through the blinds, graded to keep the olive shadows and the warm stripes of sun.
Teun made this one in his own bedroom with the blinds half shut and a single lamp, and asked me to grade it so nobody would guess.
Two colours to protect
The stripes
Sun through the blinds lands as warm bars across the wall and the bed. I kept them a little hotter than the camera did.
The shadows
Between the bars the room goes olive. Most grades would clean that out; here it’s the whole mood.
Grading without a budget
We did most of it on a laptop, then booked one evening at Harbour Grade to check it on a proper screen. The bedroom has never looked better.
