The last bus home, from the stop to the end of the line.
A short about the regulars on a city bus at the end of the day, shot on the route itself in the cool light of an old blue bus.
Route Nine runs past midnight, and most nights it carries the same faces: kitchen staff, night porters and a man who always sits right behind the driver.
Riding the route
We filmed on real runs with the blue cabin lights as our only source, because anything we added would have made the regulars look like actors.
The driver let us fix a small camera by his mirror.
The regulars were asked first and filmed second.
Anyone who said no stayed out of frame.
End of the line
The film stops where the route does, at a depot gate with the engine ticking down. Nobody gets off there except the driver.
